I have been practicing various styles of yoga for almost 30 years and my teaching reflects this broad experience. My two main influences are Ashtanga yoga which I practiced intensively for five years, including spending time in Mysore, India, and the Sivananda yoga organisation who have wonderful training and retreat centres which I visit periodically.
Yoga should be safe and accessible to all and these are my first considerations when teaching. I am always mindful to cater to whomever is in the room, adapting the class content to the participants so that everyone is included and can benefit from the session. There is often a range of experience and ability to account for as well as differing expectations about what a yoga class will be. I strive to meet this variety of wants and needs so that everyone can take something positive from the class.
I have been teaching for 20 years and I hold teaching qualifications with the British Wheel of Yoga (www.bwy.org.uk) and Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre (www.sivananda.org/london).
Since qualifying as a teacher, I have attended BWY modules in Pranayama, Gentle Years Yoga and Restorative Yoga as well as taking numerous additional training courses in yoga philosophy, meditation, anatomy, post-natal yoga, and yoga for children.
I have travelled extensively with my mat! I visited India to study and practice in 2005 and 2017 and found many great spots for yoga during my travels around Central America. I also enjoy retreats around the UK, France and Ireland whenever I can!
